In the case below Herbert S Day of the Arragonite was injured and on the 27 July 1929 placed ashore at Peterhead. We can see that while in October he was unfit to return to duty he received a sum of monies from the Incorporation for the poor pending his claim, but he was not entitled to sickness benefit. We can also see that the account for the boat hire and telegrams ect on his landing were not settled till nearly a year later. possibly also when the claim would have been settled. Note: because he is entitled to compensation under the workmans act he is not entitled to sickness benefit.
