Cordella was the flagship of 5 vessels requisitioned from Hull for war service as minesweepers in the Falklands war 1982 with Farnella, Junella, Northella, and Pict they were refitted at Rosyth and sailed from portland for the Falklands on 27 Apr as part of 11th Mine Countermeasures Squadron. all crewmen that were made redundant when the vessels left Hull received full pay from the admiralty untill they returned.

May 25 2005 - at 1614 The Latvian Fishing vessel Gideon sent out a mayday stating she was on fire in lat 47 55N, long 45 31W off Flemish Cap Newfoundland. The Icelandic trawler Peter Johanssen responded to the distress call and on arrival found the vessel sinking so took off all of her 15 crew.
