One of 5 Iron Smacks ordered by the Hellyer family to be built at Grovehill Beverley By Cochrane Hamilton & Cooper , The Alpha, Beta, Grovehill, Bonito,Antonio were the other vessels.The Alpha been named by Miss Hamilton, The Alpha was launched on Monday 21 Sept 1884, with another vessel The Albion for Mr wood to be used between York & Goole
