05 Nov 1937 House Fire : Whilst attending a bonfire in Bean Street the fire brigade were called to a house fire in Strickland St. A house in Wassand Tce, Strickland St belonging to William Feve Fisherman was on fire. All the contents of the living room being destroyed. Several articles of furniture were removed into the terrace by neighbours, and the fire extinguished with the first aid and one line of hose. RUSH OF FLAME : Gertrude Feve wife of the occupier was treated for burns to the face, head, and neck and taken to the Hull Royal Infirmary but after treatment was allowed to return. Mrs Feve went to the top of the terrace, leaving a fire in the room. When she opened the door on her return a rush of flame burned her face. A mongrel dog was severely burnt, and handed to the police for treatment, but had to be destroyed.
